In short
Use BookVu honestly and only with content you have the right to share. Teachers and organizations own their students' data and are responsible for getting parents' approval. BookVu is free to use today, is provided "as is", and is governed by Egyptian law.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and BookVu, the online platform at bookvu.com run from Cairo, Egypt (contact@bookvu.com). By creating an account or using BookVu you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use BookVu for a school, center or other organization, you agree for it too.
Accounts, roles and ages
- BookVu has three account types: teacher (runs classes), assistant (helps a teacher in the classes they are added to) and student. Guardians do not have accounts; they receive reports.
- Give true details and keep them up to date. Keep your password and codes safe; you are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
- One person per account. Do not share it or sign in as someone else.
- Anyone under 18 may use BookVu only with the permission of a parent or guardian, and students use it through the teacher or organization that runs their classes.
Schools, centers and teachers
If you are a teacher, or you use BookVu for a school, center or other organization:
- Your students' data is yours. You (or your organization) decide what data you put into BookVu and why. BookVu stores and processes it for you, on your instructions, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload: materials, files, students' details, and the logos and names of schools or organizations.
- Getting the approval of the parents or guardians of your students (Year 1 to Year 12) is your responsibility, or your organization's. BookVu's guardian confirmation is a second layer on top of your approval, not a replacement for it.
- You are responsible for your assistants: the access and permissions you give them and what they do with them.
- Reports to guardians are sent on your instruction. You are responsible for their content and for having the guardians' correct contact details. WhatsApp and email delivery can fail for reasons outside our control.
- Keep your own copies of anything important (BookVu lets you export your records). When your account closes, your data is deleted as the Privacy Policy explains.
Your content
- Everything you upload or write (materials, work, messages, comments, grades) stays yours.
- You give BookVu permission to store, copy, convert (for example, making previews and video versions for phones), protect (for example, watermarks) and show your content to the people you share it with, only to run BookVu, and for as long as it is on BookVu.
- You are responsible for your content. We do not check it before it is posted, but we may remove content, or restrict an account, that breaks these terms or the law.
Acceptable use
Do not use BookVu to:
- upload content you have no right to share, or content that is illegal, hateful, sexual, violent or harmful to children;
- harass, threaten, impersonate or spam anyone, or message guardians for anything other than the student's learning;
- upload malware, probe or break our security, get into accounts or data that are not yours, or overload the service;
- copy or collect data from BookVu with bots or scrapers, or copy our software or design;
- sell, rent or resell access to BookVu.
Copyright problems with uploaded materials
If you believe material on BookVu breaks your copyright, email contact@bookvu.com with "Copyright" in the subject and include: the work you own, the link or place where the copy is on BookVu, your name and contact details, and a statement that the information is true and that you own the rights or act for the owner. We will look at it promptly, remove or block the material if the complaint is valid, and tell the person who uploaded it, who may reply. We close the accounts of people who infringe again and again.
Payments
BookVu is free to use today. If paid plans come, their prices and how to pay are shown before you pay, and these terms are updated first.
The service
- BookVu is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.
- We may change, add or remove features.
- We may stop the service for maintenance, with notice where we can.
Liability
- BookVu is not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profit or lost opportunities, or for loss caused by content that users upload.
- BookVu's total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid BookVu in the 12 months before the claim, or EGP 500 if you use BookVu for free.
- These limits do not apply to fraud or gross fault, and they do not take away any right that Egyptian law gives you and does not allow a contract to limit.
- You are responsible for claims made against BookVu because of content you uploaded or your breach of these terms.
Suspension and closing accounts
- You can close your account at any time in Settings.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, that puts other users or BookVu at risk, or when the law requires it. Where we can, we tell you first and give you time to fix the problem or export your data.
- After an account closes, its data is deleted as the Privacy Policy explains.
Law, courts and language
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The courts of Cairo decide any dispute, without affecting your right to complain to Egypt's Consumer Protection Agency.
- These terms are published in Arabic and English. Both versions have the same meaning and the same force. If you notice a difference between them, tell us and we will correct it.
Changes to these terms
We publish changes here with a new date. If a change matters, we tell you before it takes effect: teachers by email, and everyone in the app. If you keep using BookVu after that date, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, you can close your account.
